Indulge in Cake, XP Buffs, and Bonus Rewards during the 2025 Anniversary Jubilee Event

Savor a slice and claim exclusive rewards while celebrating ESO's birthday during the Anniversary Jubilee in-game event!
ESO Turns Eleven!
Celebrate another year of adventures in Tamriel during the 2025 Anniversary Jubilee in-game event from April 3 at 10AM EDT and until April 22 at 10AM EDT. Throughout the jubilee period, you can earn various bonus rewards while enjoying a passive 100% XP buff. Veteran players might recall that this buff was once obtained by eating slices of anniversary cake, and while the cake is no longer necessary to obtain the bonus XP, that doesn't mean you shouldn't secure a slice of this sweet treat!
To earn this year's anniversary treat, complete the quest “For Cake's Sake,” which you can acquire by either speaking with the young Khajiit chef, Apprentice Mogh, near the docks of Vulkhel Guard, Davon's Watch, and Daggerfall, or by picking it up for free in the Quest Starters section of the in-game Crown Store.

Help Mogh and share a slice!
After securing the 2025 Jubilee Cake memento, you can use the item once per day to earn three Event Tickets each day of the event. Eat a slice of cake every day, and you'll collect up to a whopping 60 Event Tickets by the festival's conclusion!
Collect Celebratory Prizes
XP gains, event tickets, and cake aren't the only things to look forward to, since during the event, you can also earn exclusive Anniversary Jubilee Gift Boxes, offering multitudes of exciting rewards you won't want to miss out on. Even better, the first Gift Box you collect each day will be a Glorious Anniversary Jubilee Gift Box containing even more incredible rewards!
You can obtain Gift Boxes from any of the following sources (bear in mind that only the first Gift Box earned each day will be a Glorious box, no matter where you get it):
- Any daily quest in the game, as in previous years, including:
- Daily crafting writs
- Daily Delve, World Boss, and Incursion event quests
- Daily Alliance War and Battlegrounds quests
- Daily Dungeon and Trial quests
- Daily Heist and Sacrament quests
- Killing and looting any final Dungeon boss
- Killing and looting any final Trial boss
- Killing and looting any World boss
- Killing and looting any final Arena boss

- Note that you must open the Rewards for the Worthy mail reward container before the end of the event if you wish to obtain an Anniversary Jubilee Gift Box inside it.
- A chance from Tales of Tribute reward mails, with a higher chance to receive one based on the challenge of the opponent or the number of opponents face during a daily (the box will appear inside the parcel received)
- Note that you must open the Tales of Tribute mail reward container before the end of the event if you wish to obtain an Anniversary Jubilee Gift Box inside it.
Interested in the goodies you can find within these boxes? Check them out below.

Known Console U45 Issue: Character Faces Not Displaying Correctly (Info & Fix Timing)
In the meantime, we recommend players on our console servers please unequip any face/body markings and skins that are not displaying properly. We are aware that some of the affected body/face markings cannot be removed due to being set at character creation, and we apologize for the inconvenience. When this issue is fixed, it will automatically apply to any equipped or unequipped body/face markings or skins.
Lastly, please be aware that there are a handful of body/face markings in the Carnaval Crown Crate launching tomorrow that may be affected. However, these will also be fixed with the incremental patch on April 2nd.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we work to fix this visual issue.

Note that while at launch ESO Plus membership is the only way to access the dungeon pack, there will be additional ways to acquire it in the future—stay tuned for more information during the April ESO Direct.
Once you have access to Fallen Banners, you can dive right into the two new dungeons via the following methods:
- By teleporting directly into the two dungeons from your map
- By using the Dungeon Finder tool
- By visiting their specific dungeon entrances within the Hew's Bane (Lep Seclusa) and West Weald (Exiled Redoubt) zones
As a base-game patch, Update 45 will be automatically downloaded by your game clients when it launches.
Update 45 Base-Game Patch
Arriving in tandem with the dungeon pack is the Update 45 base-game patch, a free update for all ESO players that features additions, bugfixes, and improvements to the game.
Starter Zone Refresh
To help keep ESO as welcoming to new (and returning) players as possible, the game's starter zones have received a visual refresh, bringing them closer to the quality of more recent additions. Bleakrock Isle, Bal Foyen, Stros M'kai, Betnikh, and Khenarthi's Roost have each received improvements to their lighting, enhanced ground and water textures, updated structures, and the addition of more clutter or props.

Discover updated starter zones
Cyrodiil Champions PC/Mac Test
ESO's Alliance War veterans can help the team test future changes and iterations on the game's open-world PvP with a PC/Mac-only test called Cyrodiil Champions. With the goal of improving stability and performance in Cyrodiil (and perhaps other environments), look for a special Alliance War campaign called Vengeance to participate from March 24-31, 2025.
General Changes and Improvements
Along with the above, Update 45 also boosts mount starting speed, overhauls the Craft constellation to ease micromanagement, and introduces a general UI cleanup of the in-game map to help improve readability. It also moves the game's disguises out of the inventory and into your collections and improves the visibility of Mundus Stone boons—phew!
You can discover more about the update's features in this preview blog. For everything arriving as part of the base-game patch, check out the Patch Notes on our official forums. Don't forget, the Update 45 base-game patch is FREE for all ESO players and is downloaded automatically at launch.
Delve into the Endless Conflict
Gather your party and prepare to delve into two challenging new PvE experiences with the Fallen Banners dungeon pack. Are you ready to witness the true cost of the Alliance War? Are you excited to make use of the base-game patch's various improvements and additions? Let us know via Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
The Fallen Banners dungeon pack and Update 45 is now live for ESO Plus members on PC/Mac and Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Look for more details on additional ways to acquire Fallen Banners during the upcoming April ESO Direct.

The Lord of Revelry invites you to go wild with desire for the items and collectibles found in the new Carnaval Crown Crates.
***
Blood on the air, wine in your cup, and music all around you. It must be? It is! Carnaval is here! The Daedric Prince Sanguine is throwing a party and everyone is just dying to get in. This raucous party celebrates living at its most debauched. Will you dance till you drop? Perhaps drink deeply of the dangerous brew in the kettle? And most importantly, will you walk away from this celebration with your soul intact? Let's find out together at Car-na-val!
***
** Update for Mar. 27, 2026 - Due to an issue with Update 45 on consoles, some body/face markings and skins found within the Carnaval Crown Crate may display incorrectly. This bug will be fixed as part of the incremental patch on April 2, 2025. You can find out more information on this issue in this forum post. Thank you for your patience. **
The new Carnaval Crown Crates arrive in the Crown Store this Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10AM EDT. When opening these crates, you have a chance to find items spectacular and scandalous in the form of new and returning items and collectibles.
These goods include unique mounts, pets, furnishings, and much more. You can see just some of the items available within Carnaval Crown Crates below.

Carnaval Fan Dance emote and Dancer personality
It'll be cause for true celebration if you find the rarest and most precious of the goods in these crates—radiant apex mounts fit for a Daedric Prince.

Sanguine Gargoyle mount
Carnaval Crown Crates will be available in one-, four-, 15-, and 25- crate bundles in addition to a unique 25-crate offering, the Voskrona Guardian Crate Bundle, that is available as a one-time purchase only. In addition to the crates, this special bundle includes the Voskrona Guardian polymorph.

Protect your wealth of Crown Crates as a Voskrona Guardian
When you first purchase this one-off bundle, you will unlock the polymorph automatically and have it added to your collectibles. It is not part of the Carnaval crates themselves.
Of course, the above are just some of the items celebrating Sanguine's decadent Carnaval. If you wish to see the full list of items you have a chance to receive when opening a Carnaval Crown Crate, check out this thread on our official forums.
Be warned, when the new crates go live, the currently available Mirrormoor Crown Crates will be removed from the Crown Store, so don't forget to pick them up while they're still available!
Carnaval Crown Crates arrive this Thursday, March 27, at 10AM EDT, and you can acquire them from the Crown Crate section of the in-game Crown Store. Are you ready for riotous revelry? Let us know via Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
To Arms! Help Us Collect Vital Data by Battling Your Fellow Players in Cyrodiil

Join the new Vengeance Alliance War campaign and help us test changes and collect data that could inform future improvements to the game.
Put Cyrodiil to the Test
Part of the ongoing effort to improve performance and stability in ESO's open-world PvP experience, Cyrodill Champions has now found its way to the PC/Mac live servers with the Vengeance campaign.
This test Alliance War campaign is now live until the morning of March 31 (during scheduled maintenance). Note that during this time, this will be the ONLY Alliance War campaign available for PC/Mac players.
If you'd like to help us test changes to Cyrodiil and its open-world combat, you can do so by following the process below:
- Navigate to the Alliance War menu
- Either by pressing L on your keyboard or navigating direct via the UI
- Select the Campaigns tab
- Select Cyrodiil and then the Vengeance campaign
Vengeance Campaign
The Vengeance campaign is open to all players level 10-50 and introduces a special ruleset to the Alliance War, templatizing player builds to help improve stability.
- All players have normalized stats regardless of level
- Each Class has a modified set of abilities and items
- While in Vengeance, you cannot access your bank, vendors, or crafting nodes
- Only Experience Points, Alliance Points, gold, and Champion Points are retained upon leaving the campaign, and no items can be taken out
- The Champion System is disabled in this campaign
- All quests are disabled in this campaign
Upon entering the campaign, your character is changed to match a specific template for their class. As mentioned above, this includes pre-determined abilities, attributes, consumables, and item sets. It also includes a backpack of supplies that cannot be removed from the campaign.
Note that the templatizing of characters is an experiment and does not necessarily mean that these changes will be made to the Alliance War in the future. By introducing templatized characters for this specific test, we can isolate the variables that impact performance, helping us plan future improvements.
For more, check out this Vengeance Campaign Q&A on the official forums.
Not only does this campaign help test Cyrodiil's performance while under specific conditions, but it also allows you to battle your fellow players on a completely even playing field. No matter your experience level or items, everybody who enters the Vengeance campaign is at the same power level—leaving only your skill to determine the victor!
Help Us Help Cyrodiil
As you fight to control Cyrodiil, a bonus Golden Pursuits campaign is running at the same time, allowing you (on any platform) to earn even more Gold and Alliance Points. Take up arms on behalf of your chosen Alliance and help us chart the future of ESO's open-world PvP game mode—we need you!
Don't forget, this test is for PC/Mac users only (although anybody can complete the Golden Pursuits activities and earn the bonus rewards) and is now live until March 31. Are you ready to return to Cyrodiil? Let us know via X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Bluesky, and Facebook.

** UPDATE FOR Mar. 24, 2025 - Please note that the mention of Tel Var stones as a milestone reward was incorrect. The correct reward for second milestone is 30,000 gold. We apologize for any confusion caused by this error. **

Note that while this new Golden Pursuits campaign coincides with the PC/Mac Cyrodiil Champions test, console players can still complete these challenges and earn the bonus rewards for themselves, too.

Madcap Merriment Marks Marvelous Rewards as the Jester's Festival Event Returns

Spread cheer and chaos in equal measure to receive raucous rewards during this year's Jester's Festival in-game event!
A Festive Frolic for All
The Jester's Festival in-game event makes its grand return on March 27 at 10AM EDT and will continue until April 3 at 10AM EDT, 2025. Once the fun begins, you can enjoy increases to XP gains and revel in raucous rewards after completing event-specific quests.
To receive admission to the festivities, head over to the event pavilions located within Ebonheart, Vulkhel Guard, or Daggerfall, and speak with one of the three jesters posing as an alliance leader. If the buffoonery of the bash is making your head spin while trying to locate these event sites, open the in-game Crown Store and pick up the Jester's Festival Invitation Quest.

Everybody's getting in on the party
Upon completing the introductory quest, you'll earn the delectable Pie of Misrule memento reward, which can be located within the Mementos section of your Collections. However, unlike some previous years, you will no longer need to obtain or use the Pie of Misrule to take advantage of the 100% XP buff. This bonus will now be shared passively to all adventurers participating in Tamriel's most hilarious holiday. Still, the Pie doesn't seem to get stale despite the time passing, so feel free to dig in!
Complete Quixotic Quests, Grab Goofy Goodies
Throughout the Jester's Festival, you can pick up various event-specific daily quests. For each one completed, you'll receive a Jester's Festival Box. Furthermore, the first Jester's Festival daily quest you complete each day will reward you with one Stupendous Jester's Festival Box.
Each of these boxes can include the following items:
- Festive Dazzlers
- Cherry Blossom Confetti
- Revelry Pies
- Festive furnishings
- Jester's Festival provisioning recipes
- Treasures that can be sold to vendors for Gold

Note that the total number of Event Tickets you can carry at one time is capped at 12. If you are close to the limit, then be sure to spend a few to avoid wasting any Tickets. That'd be a little too silly even for Jester's Festival!
Never one to miss a party, the Impresario has special wares on sale during the event:

Dev Team Request: A Top 5 List of Bugs and Pain Points You Would Like Addressed
Pain points could be anything that creates friction or takes away from your enjoyment in ESO. Some examples we've heard from all of you in the past include not being able to search for a specific guild by name in the guild finder tool, the world map being confusing/overwhelming, or lack of a minimap making it hard to navigate the world.
Also, just to save some time, you do not need to include the stuck-in-combat bug. The dev team is aware and has it on the list already, and it came up many times when we gathered questions for the general PVP Q&A that is coming later in February. (Incidentally, we will have an update on it in that Q&A.)
To help us keep this list as easy to read as possible, please respond in the following format:
Top Bugs/Issues
- Bug 1
- Bug 2
- Bug 3
- Bug 4
- Bug 5
- Pain Point 1
- Pain Point 2
- Pain Point 3
- Pain Point 4
- Pain Point 5
If you see a prompt that you agree with, please feel welcome to use the "agree" reaction in the bottom right corner of the post to note your agreement. This will help us when reviewing comments. Please note, we aren't counting reactions as votes – everyone's top five are valid!
As always, please keep the Community Guidelines in mind as you provide your feedback. Thanks in advance for your feedback and this opportunity to address some of your top bugs/issues and pain points.

Morphing Collectible Chart 2025

Studio Director’s Letter: 2025 & Beyond
First, a few notes about 2024. I probably say this every year, but 2024's ESO content was among my favorite. I loved the vibe and story of Gold Road, and now that Home Tours is allowing me to see so many other people's homes, I'm seriously considering making Merryvine Estate my main house – although it will take a lot to unseat me from Mournoth Keep… 2024 showed that we are still creating wonderful content for all our players. We ended the year with two new Companions – I am currently adventuring with Zerith-var, although I'm early in my journey with him – as well some fun tweaks to Battlegrounds, and much more. I look back on 2024's content and updates, and am very satisfied with our story, content, and systems updates.
It was wonderful to spend time with fans in person in April at our Amsterdam 10 Year Anniversary event, and for team members – sadly I could not make it – to attend the German ESO Tavern in July. We had many other smaller regional community events – some for the first time in their territories – sprinkled throughout the year, where fans of the game got to meet one another and share stories about their shared time in Tamriel.
And now it is time to look forward, which will comprise most of this end of year message. Change is a constant, especially in gaming. The gaming industry changes, player habits change, other games come and go. In fact, change has been constant since ESO launched in 2014. We have been able to keep up with the times, make hard decisions and big changes when it was time to make them. Looking back on all the changes that have gotten us here, it is pretty clear that we have generally made the right decisions at the right times for our game. And now, we are looking forward to 2025 and how we can change ESO to keep it relevant, awesome, and compelling.
Since 2017, we have released amazing content and systems every year - but always on the same schedule. This annual cadence pushed the team to focus on short deadlines – every June – where all types of content (systems, content, zones, etc.) had to be completed at the same time and has not left us much time for experimentation or thinking about doing things differently.
At the end of last year, we gave a slight heads up that we would be shaking things up. Our lead times are so long that we were already planning for some of these changes back then. And, I'm very happy to say that starting in 2025, you'll see new ideas and ways of launching content start rolling out.
Turning the Page on Chapters
We have been incredibly successful with our strong annual Chapter releases: starting with Morrowind in 2017 up through Gold Road just six months ago. Zone design and quest/content is at the core of every Elder Scrolls game, as our annual Chapter release model highlighted. We will still do lots of story content, but now, looking into 2025, we need to concentrate on different types of content to support all types of ESO players. So, we are putting Chapters aside and will be focusing on new types of content, and a new release philosophy. More on that below.
As 2025 will be a transition year for new content, we are going to have new zone-based content launch in 2025 - but you'll have to wait until April to hear the specifics about how it is different. Stay tuned!
Introducing Seasons
Over the course of 2025 we will be moving more towards a seasonal content model and away from launching massive content updates once a year, as we did with Chapters. We will be talking much more about this in the future, but in 2025 expect to see named Seasons of three or six months duration with a mix of themed story content, events, store items, dungeons and more.
2025 will be a mix of old and new as we move the dev team towards creating smaller bite-sized pieces of content. We will still have some larger items that we've been working on for over a year, which you'll see launch as well.
Freeing up the dev team from needing to adhere to a strict annual cycle means we will be able to have teams launch content when it is ready throughout the year and not work to a date in June – this will let us focus on a greater variety of content spread over the year. This supports the new Seasons model, and will enable us to release content, updates, fixes, and systems in a more efficient manner.
A new focus on change and experimentation
We have been hearing from you, the community, that we need to experiment more, to shake things up and not be so predictable. The game needs new and different types of content, and for long-standing feedback to be addressed. We have already started on some ideas that will be tested in 2025. These systems and ideas will be clearly marked as "experiments" in patch notes and are ideas that may or may not be fleshed out into full game systems. With our new focus on breaking up content into seasons and away from years, it gives us time to do these experiments and changes.
Here are some of the ideas that we are working on, some of which you may see on the live servers as tests in 2025 and beyond. Some of these will be tests and some will be improvements based on player feedback:
- We need to seriously address Cyrodiil performance. Our (ambitious) goal is to return it to the concurrency levels we supported in 2014. So, we will be experimenting with a Cyrodiil campaign where all classes will have PvP-specific (and more performant) skills that replace the standard player skills with the expectation that we can support more players per campaign.
- Increasing the difficulty of standard overworld combat
- Improving the overall feel of combat with animation, FX, and potentially audio work
- Experimenting with more zones like Craglorn (although not as large in area or scope), created exclusively for high-end group and soft-group content with associated gear chase
- Adding and refining tools to make guild recruitment, interaction, and management easier and more logical
- We have many more ideas here, and of course we are listening to you and will be coming up with new ideas based on your feedback
Concentrating on new and returning user experience
It is long past time that we address ESO's new and returning user experience. The game is so large at this point that we need to refine the new user experience. Our goal is to shield new players from being overwhelmed by dozens of content options presented to them on entering the world, and instead give them the essential guidance they need to enjoy the game before opening it up to all possibilities.
Additionally, we have many millions of players who return to the game every year after taking months to years off – and it is often confusing to them what they should be doing. We need to address this by making sure that the game's map and other quest/informational UI areas clearly show the user where they were when they left, what has been added since then, and where they will find content they will love.
Here are just a few of the items planned to improve the new and returning user experience – some of these will launch in 2025, some afterwards:
- A new patcher, with improved visuals and performance (PC only)
- Returning to the original Wailing Prison tutorial area for all new players - this has already launched, but we will be regularly tweaking it to improve the experience
- Visually improving base game zones with updated textures and art assets, starting with the "starter islands" - these should start rolling out in March 2025
- Not showing new players prologue quest or Chapter quest compass pins. The jury is still out on how Stuga will feel about this
- Sprucing up the game's PC UI, which is long overdue for a modern visual upgrade
- Other map and UI systems (still in design/idea stage) to make returning to the game more seamless and get you back into the action quickly
Continuing to tell great stories
With the changes to our content release model, please be assured that we are not abandoning new quest content – but we will do it in different ways than we previously have. As our focus will not be on adding giant new landmasses – although we will do that from time to time – instead, we will use existing zones and areas to tell new stories. Some of these are:
- Continuing the stories in existing zones and storylines and bringing back familiar characters
- New stories focused on hallmark Elder Scrolls organizations like Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Fighters Guild, and Mages Guild
- Splitting a large zone across multiple updates
We are embarking on these changes to give the development team the space to find a new cadence that can mix new content and systems with addressing feedback, fixing issues, and adding new quests and activities to existing zones and stories. It will not be as regular as the old annual cadence - so expect Season launches and new content, systems, and tests announcements throughout the year, not necessarily in January as we have done since 2017.
Speaking of, to give everyone a heads up, our next big announcement event will be in April 2025 as we introduce our first Season. There will be much more in the April announcement, but for that, you will have to wait. We will still have a content update in March 2025 (on PTS as normal in January), and we will give you more information about that sometime early in the new year.
You have already heard the news that we will not be doing a 2025 North American community event as we originally planned. This was a difficult decision, but as shown by all the planning and development changes listed here, we need to focus on the game itself for a while this year. That said, we will still see you at local community events in many territories, so stay tuned for announcements and details on those.
And finally, my thanks to all of you. Thank you so much for being part of the wonderful community that makes up this amazing online virtual world. As I have said many times before, we would not be here without you. You all have navigated many changes throughout the years and have given us invaluable feedback that has helped steer our decision making since our beta program started in 2013.
Have a wonderful holiday and see you in Tamriel!
Matt
Feedback On Console Environmental Sustainability Features
- Reduced GPU use in Contextual Menus (Xbox Series X|S and PS5): When viewing most menus, (eg. managing inventory, achievements, quest journal, etc) framerate is now capped to 30fps. Some menus are exempt on a case-by-case basis (eg. conversations, various mini-games). Testing in Performance Mode while in these menus shows a 50% reduction in GPU consumption, resulting in overall power consumption going from approximately 63% of the maximum possible on a console down to 37%.
Crown Store Gifting Update – October 2023
In September, we temporarily disabled Crown Store gifting due to a rapidly growing issue of "bad actors" using various fraudulent means to amass crowns without paying for them, then using them in turn to sell Crown Store items to players for real-world cash outside of the game client. That said, we recognize that gifting is a meaningful part of our community, and we are in the process of manually re-enabling Crown Store gifting access for select players who meet our specific criteria. This work will be complete tomorrow, October 11, during the maintenance window from 09:00 AM ET to 12:00 PM ET.
Gifting eligibility is determined by an evolving list of factors including but not limited to the account being at least 180 days past its first login and previous engagement with in-game features. You may check if you have access to gifting in-game via the Crown Store as well as via your billing history page in the ESO account center. If you have access to Crown Store gifting, you will see "Allow Crown Store Gifting" in your billing history. If you try to send a gift via the in-game Crown Store and do not have access, you will see a "Gifting Locked" pop-up message. Please note that we are exploring better ways to display this information in-game in the future, such as updating the Gifting Tutorial.
If you do not have access to Crown Store gifting after it is re-enabled on October 11, 2023, and wish for a review of your account, please visit https://help.elderscrollsonline.com and submit a Customer Support ticket. Please choose the Billing / Purchase / Code category then Platform > I have a question about a sale / offer > I want to send gift items from this account.
We appreciate everyone's understanding and patience while we get this solution up and running. Multiple teams have worked long hours to evaluate the best technical solutions that we could stand up in a reasonably short time, while also prioritizing the Crown Store gifting player experience. We are dedicated to continuing to explore ways to make this better and reduce fraudulent activity in ESO. Thanks again for being a part of our community and for your continued support.
